DEFINITION
"Hillside" refers to property located in an area with known erosive soil conditions, where the development contemplates grading on any natural slope that is 25% or greater and where grading contemplates cut or fill slopes.
GENERAL REQUIREMENTS

Conserve Existing Landscape and Natural Areas. |

Protect Existing Slopes and Drainage Devices. |

3.

Divert Roof Runoff and Surface Flow to Vegetated Areas before discharge into the Storm Drain System if the diverted flow will not result in slope instability. |

Design Standards for Structural or Treatment Control BMPs:
Post-construction treatment control BMPs are required to incorporate, at minimum, either a volumetric or flow based treatment control design standard or both, to mitigate (infiltrate, filter or treat) storm water runoff for single-family hillside residential developments with one acre or more of surface area. |
SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS

Divert Roof Runoff: Direct runoff from roof gutters and down spouts to planter areas. |

Divert Surface Flow: Direct slope surface flow to vegetated areas or areas with permeable paving. |
|
3.
|
Overflow Provide overflow drainage devices at all areas (landscape planters, permeable pavements, etc) that receive storm water runoff in order to conduct overflow drainage to the street in non-erosive devices, as required by Chapter 70 of the Los Angeles City Building Code. |
